What do you love about your role?
My initial background was in farming on a mixed beef, sheep and poultry farm. I then did an Open University course in Environmental Studies and have now worked in Analytical Services as a Lab Technician for over seven years.
I love the fact that my role is practical and makes a difference. By analysing forage and feed I am providing the farmer with the data needed so that anmial nutrition can be carefully formulated. I love the connection to the farm and the fact that my analysis can make a real contribution to animal productivity and health.
What advice would you give to someone interested in a career in science?
There are lots of opportunities. Follow your heart and go for it!
