Naomi Duijvesteijn is Global Sustainability Director at Hendrix Genetics, a role she has held since May 2024. She joined the company in 2018 and holds a PhD in Quantitative Genetics with a focus on pigs. Her work combines scientific rigor with a strong focus on sustainable food systems.
Naomi played a key role in the SAPPSA (Sustainable Access to Poultry Parent Stock in Africa) program, a Gates Foundation–funded initiative led by Hendrix Genetics. Through SAPPSA, and via Hendrix Genetics’ traditional poultry brand SASSO, improved dual‑purpose chicken breeds were developed and made sustainably available to smallholder farmers in rural Africa. Implemented in two consecutive five‑year phases, the program focused first on securing access to appropriate genetics and subsequently on improving affordability, performance and value‑chain resilience.
In her current role, Naomi leads the global sustainability strategy at Hendrix Genetics, embedding sustainability into breeding innovation and decision‑making across species and regions, with the aim of delivering long‑term value for farmers, animals and society.
